The Lady Dauntless is another successful book in the Zodiac Series. For those who have read the first three books in the series, there is a certain delight with the reappearance of favorite characters such as the Despicables and Sophie (from A Reckless Soul). Even Logan is the naval officer who was an asset to Cordelia and Sabastien in Heartless Design.
When it comes to Regency era cat-and-mouse romances, Elizabeth Cole is a master. Her descriptive writing and believable dialogue keeps the pace steady as her tightly knit plot unfolds with deft precision. I really liked Gemma from the start, but I was slower to be won over by Logan. I will admit that this book is not my favorite in the series, but it is still a good read with a HEA. As with the other books, there is a slight bit of intimacy and no vulgar language.

Loved this one, too. The setting and character introductions, intermingling plots create an almost breathless need to read every page immediately. Plot twists are dark, dangerous, deceiving and delightful in a challenging way.
Haven't stopped reading the series since I got the 1st one! Well done Elizabeth Cole! Can't wait to read the last 2 written thus far. Hurry and write some more in this series please!
I received the first book via a free books email link. I so thoroughly enjoyed that first book that I immediately went to and purchased the rest of the series. The characters are wonderfully portrayed and the story lines are intriguing. Kept me reading right from one book to the next. More please!
Beautifully written with characters who you fall in love with. I loved Gemma like a younger sister you just know will get in trouble with her sass and reckless stubbornness. Logan was her perfect match. I loved having the disreputables just happening to make their appearances. I want to know what happens to her friends and family now.
Great primary and secondary characters. I caught on to the answer to both mysteries long before the characters did, but that’s part of the effective tension seeing them figure it out when they don’t have all the clues. Intelligent, pistol-wielding ladies are fabulous. My favorites in this series are A Heartless Design (#1) and A Shameless Angel (#3).
This was my first Zodiak book, I might have more but will have to research....And if this is the first for me I can see I have a wonderful book or two or three yet to read....for her time, our intrepid Ladyhero was daring and wild, she needed help to be a "lady", but so would we all in her world. Our Lady was fun, spunky and very VERY Helpful for her Hero, and for the England in this fantasy world. But if we read these books we do agree to believe for the duration of the read to enter their world and, well, she who writes and manipulates the world we bought to read. It is fun, there are fun facts to hold on to and the story is well worth the time and money....it is just so much fun! It may have been my first Zodiak book but by far not the last!
I had only just discovered this series in January, so imagine my delight when the next installment came out only a month later! This installment is all about a girl named Gemma and her involvement in the family business, which just happens to be smuggling. Through her involvement she meets an undercover agent named Logan, who can't tell for himself if Gemma is innocent to the underhanded transgressions of her uncle or as deeply involved as it gets.
Gemma is impulsive and strong, almost "one of the guys" for her time period, as she was raised and let to run wild in on the moors of scotland riding her beloved horse and learning to shoot with great marksmanship. She's confident, but also very kind, and she loves her guardians (brother and sister, her aunt and uncle) very much, to the point she wishes she could be more of a "lady" for her aunt, but her uncle's draw to danger seems to have put a stop to that.
I loved how Logan initially saw Gemma, he was being a bit of a creeper while Gemma was out riding, and it was just one of those initial sparks that always ignites into something powerful, and these two are no exception.
Gemma's wild spirit reminds me of Sophie from Zodiac book #2, but without the disillusioned heartbreak Sophie had to endure to get to where she was. Gemma is very much her own character and has her own distinct personality and baggage.
Speaking of Sophie, one of my absolute favorite parts about this series is how the characters from the other novels pop up, and my girl Sophie plays a fabulous role in this book as none other than herself. I'm one of those readers who has a hard time saying goodbye to the characters in books once their story is over, and this Zodiac series mentions past characters oe involves them in some way that just leaves me completely delighted. And then there's the newly named Undesirables; the formerly criminal servants who help things run smoothly on the domestic front for the zodiac.
I really just love the world Cole has created here and really hope it goes past 12 books, I'll be reading every installment I can get my hands on and consider these novels "reread" material, I'll keep going back to visit again and again.
